|$ 15.01 - $ 25.00||$7.95|
|$ 25.01 - $ 50.00||$8.95|
|$ 50.01 - $ 75.00||$10.95|

|$110.01 - $175.00||$13.95|
|$175.01 - $225.00||$14.95|
|$225.01 - $300.00||$15.95|
|$300+||7% of merchandise total|
There are items in ourstore that incur additional shipping based on size or weight of the item. These items are each marked with the additional shipping cost. To calculate the shipping with the additional shipping cost, first calculate your merchandise total. Locate your shipping cost on the chart above based on that total. Add the additional shipping to the shipping cost.
Why do some items have additional shipping charges?
Some of our products have additional shipping fees because of the weight and/or the size of the product.
When a product has additional shipping, shipping is calculated first by the merchandise total and then the additional shipping is added to that total.
For example, a product has $7.00 additional shipping. That means it has regular shipping charge of $15.95 plus the additional $7.00, making it $22.95 to ship the grinder.
What is ship ahead? Are there additional charges for additional shipment on one order?
Ship ahead means that an order which has both in-stock and back-ordered-items will be shipped in two shipments. In-stock items on these orders will be shipped prior to back-ordered items, thus creating two shipments from one order. You have the option to choose to ship ahead if your order has items on back order. If you choose to ship ahead, we ship in-stock items right away and ship back-ordered items when they become available. If you choose not to ship ahead, your entire order will be held at our warehouse until every item is available to ship.

Is the hand crank Left or Right handed on the Sausage Stuffer (Models #1111 & #1112)?
The hand crank is Right Crank usage only. When installing the crank, position the stuffer so the crank is located on your right side as you face the unit. Install the cylinder so the stuffing tube is facing toward you. Then operate the unit by turning the crank with your right hand while guiding the tube with your left hand.
Do I need to use water when using Backwoods Seasoning? How much?
Yes, we recommend using at least 1 oz. (2 tablespoons) of water per pound of meat with our Backwoods Seasoning.
What meat is recommended for making jerky and sausage?
Any type of lean meat will work, beef, venison, turkey, etc. For jerky and snack sticks the leaner the meat the better. When making sausage we suggest an 80:20 blend. 80% meat and 20% pork or pork fat. Roots & Harvest does not recommend using suet in your sausage mix.
Do I need to add fat to my sausage? What type of fat is suggested? What is the ratio of meat to fat?
We recommend using 20% pork or pork fat to 80% lean meat. The fat is added to the meat to make up the total amount of meat needed. If you are making a 10 lb. batch of summer sausage you would use 8 lbs. of lean ground meat and 2 lbs. of pork fat.
Roots & Harvest does not recommend the use of suet in place of fat. Suet has a higher melting point than the sausage cooking temperature. When the meat is fully cooked the suet would not be melted completely, leaving suet particles in the sausage.
Soy Protein Concentrate can also be added to sausage meat blends. Soy Protein contains no cholesterol and is essentially free of fat because it is derived from a vegetable source. It is very high in protein, which makes it an excellent binder, and also helps to retain the moisture in the meat. You can use 1 lb. of Soy Protein Concentrate for 50 lbs. of meat or 2 teaspoons per pound.
